Thrilling Kerala trip: experience the best of nature

Recently my grandparents took a wonderful vacation trip to Kerala- The God’s own country, and listening to them to explain how much fun they had during the whole time, was really fascinating. It was a 6-day trip. And the description itself about the ambiance and the scenic places they have visited made me want to include this special place to my ultimate bucket list to cover before 30. My grandparents really never ceased to amaze with, with their unconditional love for each other and quench for fun and adventure even at this age. Day 1:  Munnar


They landed in Cochin international airport on the first day and head to Munnar, their first destination in the list with the assistance of an expert guide. The drive took almost 5 hours to reach, and grandpa saw the route was really relaxing and they could see some spectacular views of nature and some majestic waterfalls.

They halted some places to click some pictures, which they couldn’t resist the urge and later checked into the Hotel which was in close proximity to the Munnar town itself and for the rest of the day they replaced in the hotel. There was simply mesmerizing views from their hotel room itself.

Day 2: Munnar

The second day spent luxury exploring in and around Munnar. The guide took them to different scenic places like the eco-point, Rose Garden, Rajamalai and so on. The experience at the Eravikulam national park was simply amazing and the ambiance there was really soothing.  Later in the evening after some shopping for chocolates and clothes, they returned back to the hotel and spend a relaxing night over there.

Day 3: Alleppey


Next day after some refreshing breakfast from the hotel, they head out to Alleppey which is popularly known as the Venice of the east via car. They reached there by afternoon and boarded the houseboat, in which they were welcomed by some refreshing drinks and amazing lunch. They had an amazing day cruising along the serene backwaters of Alleppey.

Day 5: Cochin


Next day they head out to Cochin to head back to our own home. And the flight was around evening. In the meantime, they had a splendid Cochin city tour and visit many historical places including the jew streets, Dutch Palace St Francis church and so on.

Kasavu saree – This is the typical Kerala dress and available in all textile shop in Kerala. The price range differs based on the material and starts from INR 500

Spices – When you visit Munnar, you can purchase some best aromatic spices from many local trade centers.

Handicrafts – Kerala handicrafts makes up some unique souvenirs. These include coir products, metal works, ivory works, wood carvings and so on.

Vilaku – Nilavilaku is a traditional home score in Kerala, which is used for auspicious occasions also.

  • There is a certain limit for the amount of alcohol that you can carry with you while traveling in Kerala. And based on recent rules, alcohol consumption if banned in many parts of the country. Toddy is a locally available palm wine, which you will be getting from many local shops and restaurants in Kerala.
  • Most of the shops and restaurants accepts credit and debit cards, but the same may not be available for sightseeing entry fees or local shopping
